Exit Lends A Helping Hand

By Bob Hughes
bobhughes@sasktel.net posted Dec 09, 2009

The first big snowfall of the season had laid out a white carpet across The City of Angels. In the afternoon hours, legs moved swiftly from house to house throughout the city. The snow gave off a crunching sound as the wave of giving spread out. These soldiers of the misfortunate went into the cold December day armed only with their smiles and a gift of giving. They were the agents and office staff of Exit Realty Fusion, Regina's newest and fastest growing real estate company, and they were on a mission.

In an act of selfless giving, they were going door to door seeking out cash and food donations for the Regina Food Bank, which at this time of the year experiences the heart-tugging emotion that comes when families are in need of some help. They raised about $400 in cash and 150 pounds of food.

There is no other time of the year that sees as many charities, one after the other, reach out to the public for meaningful assistance. From the gathering of toys to funding for various shelters to assuring that everyone will have enough to eat over Christmas, the lineup for help seems endless. And, yet, in a city and a province which leads the nation in charitable donations, they all seem to end their Christmas campaigns on a successful note.

Since its inception just over a year ago, Exit Realty Fusion has thrown itself into the true spirit and meaning of giving back to the community. The are so committed to the community they do business in that it leaves some in awe of their energy and devotion.

They have fund-raised for cancer,Kids Help Phone, and Habitat for Humanity  just to name some of their other major projects. And, this month they have thrown themselves into raising funds and gathering food for the Regina Food Bank. Their weekend blitz of Regina homes was met with an affectionate response from Reginans who responded in a significant way. Then, feeling more could be done, the gang at Exit Realty Fusion took turns manning a Food Bank booth in the Cornwall Centre from the moment the mall opened until it closed that night. It was an overwhleming success with about $400 in cash being collected.

The response from the community has been astounding. It's as if Regina has awakened to the trumphet of the city's newest real estate company, the Little Giant That Could, Does and Will. At least one television station followed the Exit troopers on their door-knocking campaign and interviewed Broker Loretta Hughes. Those who tune into Access Communications' local channel have caught glimpses of the Exit Realty Fusion float in the Santa Claus Parade, the second year in a row Exit has been involved in the parade. Broker Loretta Hughes also has appeared on radio, being interviewed to help promote the charities the company is committed to.

"If there is one thing that sets Regina apart from many other cities, it's that companies here really do care about what happens in our city," Loretta said. "From the very day I started thinking about starting our own real estate company, foremost in my mind was our company and our agents had to get involved in the community in a meaningful way. We do it because we are very luck and others are not, and we have to find ways to help out. And, our people have discovered the warm feeling they are left with when they do something for those not as fortunate as we are."

Exit Realty Fusion Events Manager Sarah Kemmere continues to look for more ways Exit can involve itself in community events.

The next time your doorbell rings, don't beware. Be aware that the chances are good it will be somebody from Exit Realty Fusion asking for donations on their latest fund-raising adventure.
